Alon's Bakery & Market Description:
Stop by Alon's for breakfast, and enjoy one of the raspberry cheese danish. Other morning possibilities include egg dishes, even grits, although the pastries are the draw, along with the wonderful coffee by local roaster J. Martinez. Lunch may be a salad or a sandwich on the house-made bread. Then for dinner take home salmon patties, curried shrimp salad, or perhaps some pasta salad. Cheeses are in pristine condition, and don't forget dessert. The house-made sorbets (oh that strawberry!) are dairy-free and the gelati come in flavors like roasted almond and chocolate (our favorites). The same bar that served you that coffee and danish in the morning can provide you with a lovely glass of wine, although we'd like to see the reds served a little cooler than is customary here. Ask about wine tastings, always very reasonably priced at around $15.
