Sushi-Ko Description:
Trendy sushi/Japanese restaurant in Glover Park. Menu offers a good variety of sushi, as well as the usual tempura and teriyaki, along with more unusual dishes, like Grilled Baby Octopus with Mango, or Seared Scallops with Uni butter and Forest Mushrooms.
Valet parking is available at dinner.
Georgetown's beloved Sushi-Ko---the first restaurant to enlighten Washingtonians as to the gourmet delights of sushi---has continued to evolve and improve since its first days in town many years ago. Part of its appeal, of course, is the sushi bar downstairs, where a crew of Japanese chefs work diligently over such creations as tuna with jalapeño chiles or honey-roasted duck breast with mustard miso. But even more of a draw is the unique and unconventional dishes that put a spin on traditional Japanese eats: seared white tuna tataki or a ceviche trio of salmon, yellowtail and tuna. Enhancing its allure is the restaurant's unusual collections of fine French wines (yes, French Burgundies do go with sushi) and obscure Japanese sakés. It's no wonder, then, that Sushi-Ko, under the ownership of Daisuke Utagawa and the cooking mastery of Koji Terano, has become a Mecca for a very in crowd, a veritable who's who of DC's powerbrokers and other local celebs.
