Moving in where Mrs. Simpson's once trod, Pesto has an Italian-inspired menu that evokes the land of garlic and pizza, but misses making a solid home run. The truncated menu, separated into three categories, skirts the best of Italy by appeasing American taste buds. Why offer a Caesar salad, we wondered? Even the entrées seem more modern American---grilled salmon, grilled Black Angus steak and breast of chicken with red peppers---than classical Italian. The best part of the meal, the sweet and creamy tiramisu, makes the evening.
