Luna Grill and Diner Description:
The atmosphere is casual and the menu plain and simple, but the bright paintings of celestial scenes give a hint of Dupont whimsy, as do items like grilled vegetables that you might not find in the average diner. Takeout is available, and Luna is patronized chiefly by office workers in the area.
It seems silly to think that one diner (which does not even resemble a diner) could cause such a stir, but this place merits raves and return visits, not only for its outrageous décor but also for its rather funky menu, which includes several surprising dishes: spicy bourbon barbecue chicken breast, grilled New York steak and a Pittsburgh-style barbecue sandwich with coleslaw. We particularly like the hamburger with a side of their fries, but are just as happy with the Reuben sandwich. If you'd rather, you can order breakfast (like strawberries and cream or cinnamon raisin french toast) all day. Also located at 4024 28th St., Arlington, VA, 703-379-7173.
