A spin-off of the immensely popular, and nearby, Chen's Gourmet, Bambu is its dressed-up, sit-down cousin, but there the similarities end. It seems that even though the owners have added classy seating, kept the prices reasonable, and added a sushi bar with chilled saké, they forgot to clone the quality of Chen's cooking. We were very disappointed in our two entrées: crispy eggplant (overly sweet, and besides, the kitchen did not even use Asian eggplant) and the ma po tofu, which from most kitchens is a killer dish loaded with fire and spice. This version was so bland that it tasted only of tofu, which has no flavor. We'll head back to Chen's, where the food never disappoints.

Review :
I discovered Bambu shortly after it opened, and was delighted to find such a selection of delicious food at reasonable prices. Sadly, Bambu is not at all what it used to be. The prices have risen, while the quality has declined; but worst of all, the service is utterly appalling. It's quite common for the waitstaff to completely ignore your existence, and even if you do manage to get their attention, they are rude and dismissive. I can only conclude that they don't really care about their customers at all, which is a shame. I've continued going to this place far too long, hoping that my experiences were flukes, but alas, this rudeness is the new norm.
