Marrakesh Palace Description:
P Street will never be the same due to the arrival of this sumptuous restaurant with an "it" nightclub upstairs. Foodies, however, will eschew the after-hours entertainment for the chef's fare downstairs, enjoyed in exotic surroundings with gleaming brass, plush fabrics and colorful carpets setting the tone. Whatever else you select, you'll want to start with the unusual b'stilla, which is to Moroccan cooking a bit like chicken potpie is to American cooking: filo dough wraps around a savory-sweet minced chicken filling spiked with cinnamon. The finished baked package comes sprinkled with confectioners sugar. The menu offers a solid selection of traditional Moroccan main dishes, including couscous and tagine staples. While many of the tagines sound intriguing few equal the lamb barkouk, a satisfying meal of tender boneless lamb braised with prunes and garnished with almonds and sesame seeds. Desserts are absent, except for the plate of delicate cookies and pastries and the cups of sweetened mint tea. PS: Eating with your fingers is acceptable; indeed, it's traditional.
