CO CO Sala Description:
An enterprising team is behind this all-about-chocolate restaurant-lounge-bar in the heart of the Penn Quarter. The menu is a bit hard to decipher, since it's divided into salads---yes, salads touched with chocolate---small plates (how about sliders with blue cheese and a chocolate mole sauce?) and, finally, the four chocolate tasting menus, starring flavors from Italy, Asia, Mexico and the comfort foods from childhood. The collection of American comfort foods starts with cream donuts served with cappuccino panna cotta and before it ends includes a killer mini grilled cheese and tomato soup, with chocolate worked in somehow. Some of the Mexican offerings are unusual, and some too hot to handle, such as the chocolate soufflé with a fiery, as in chili, center. If you could select among the different dishes, you could build a menu reflecting four very different cuisines. And in the meantime, you can always take a box of chocolates home with you.
