Da Edoardo Fox Town Grille Description:
This downtown restaurant fills a prime spot on the lobby floor of the beautifully restored Fox Theatre, the ornate movie palace that hosts live performances and spawned a revival of entertainment venues now called Foxtown. The space exudes an urbane Italian steakhouse vibe replete with deep grays, polished wood and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer a view of Comerica Park. Da Edoardo specializes in veal and pastas from family recipes of the patriarch, Edoardo Barbieri, who started it all at a little place called La Lanterna. The third generation of the family now runs the restaurant. Notable dishes include gamberoni Portofino (large shrimp sautéed in sherry sauce), baked cannelloni filled with chicken and veal, linguine with white clam sauce, mussels and shrimp and char-grilled Provimi veal chops. Steaks range from the 24-ounce porterhouse with garlic-butter sauce to the filet mignon crowned with fresh mushroom caps. The three high-topped tables adjacent to the bar are coveted spots.
