Le Central Affordable French Description:
This simple but authentic French country restaurant has a daily changing menu to take advantage of what's fresh. The bouillabaisse, lapin (rabbit), poitrine de poulet (stuffed chicken breast) and canard (grilled duck) are well done but this place is best known for mussels. A tasting menu offers eight different (steamed and grilled) preparations of mussels accompanied by as many homemade french fries as you can eat. The extensive wine list has only French wines---many from small, lesser-known vineyards---at good prices. Weekend brunch is a draw for locals. Featured dishes are classic omelets; cinnamon-battered brioche french toast; and the salmon, white fish and mussel crêpe. Service is friendly but can be slow.
