Krameri Cafe Description:
Paved with supermarkets, gas stations, laundry mats and divey bars, Krameria Street isn't exactly a hub of hot (or haute) restaurant activity. And while the Krameria Café is hardly the kind of place you'd go for groundbreaking cuisine or a romantic, candlelit interlude, it sweeps the floor when it comes to breakfast. Give the morning cultists sprawling plates of scratch-made corned beef hash crowned with yolky eggs or eggs Benedict ladled with a requisite lemon-y hollandaise sauce, and it's no wonder that residents of Mayfair-Park Hill gather here in droves, especially on the weekends. Breakfast, of course, isn't everyone's plate de jour which explains why the eight-page menu also struts hefty sandwiches (a good Reuben, for example, served on pumpernickel), a slew of traditional Mexican dishes, and Middle-Eastern favorites like the pita-wrapped chicken kebab sandwich padded with grilled onions and tomatoes. The restaurant is a family affair, and no one is in the mood to rush, which means you may have to wait for your griddled french toast or country fried chicken longer than you'd like. But with low prices and portions that will fuel you for the day, even the most impatient clock-watchers will find little to grumble about.
