Scott's Seafood Grill and Bar Description:
This classic yet contemporary seafood and steakhouse restaurant is popular with the pre- and post-theater crowd from the nearby Orange County Performing Arts Center. The interior has been renovated to reflect a more Southern style, with white-wood arched windows, gleaming gold brass and an airy feel. The classy bar is a good place to hang out during happy hour as tasty appetizers and hand-shaken martinis are surprisingly inexpensive. The standout appetizer is the fried calamari, which comes prepared in classic style with garlic and lemon or in a spicier version with tangy Tabasco and Worcestershire sauces. Chowders are also a good way to start as Scott's has a sherry-finished New England-style chowder as well as a Manhattan-style soup with applewood-smoked bacon. As for mains, the Chilean sea bass, roasted scallops and steak Delmonico are all worthy dishes. Scott's also offers a reasonably priced four-course prix-fixe menu nightly with wine pairings. Speaking of wine, Scott's has a notable list and an ever-present sommelier. Sunday brunch is an à la carte affair with tempting dishes like homemade granola, cranberry blintzes, shrimp and scallop ceviche, a smoked salmon plate and an avocado omelet.
