Bertucci's has expanded from its humble New England origins to many locations in numerous states and with good reason. Each restaurant retains the aura of a neighborhood gathering place, with a menu that is not as cookie cutter as one would expect, but authentically Italian in flavor and presentation. Classics like chicken piccata, chicken scaloppine with fresh lemon, capers, white wine and romano cheese, and chicken Parma, chicken breasts topped with pomodoro sauce, fresh basil and melted provolone, served over spaghetti, are all reasonably priced. Wood-fired pizzas are also ideal for sharing. Ask for a ball of pizza dough to keep kids entertained after you order. And eat family-style as the Italians do. From the tangy tomato and mozzarella salad and the garlicky shrimp Bella Venezia pizza to the sweet lobster ravioli and creamy cannolis, it's all better when shared.
