From Route 4, Wood-n-Tap Bar & Grill looks like just another local watering hole; what those who motor past don't know is that the cozy place actually overlooks a watering hole, situated as it is on a small but charming pond. In fact, nothing beats a seat on the back deck when the weather's nice (though you can enjoy the view from inside too). Generous portions unify the rather eclectic menu, which ranges from steak and seafood that come with your choice of large tossed salad or appetizer to blimp-shaped, filling pizzas (we're partial to the spinach and artichoke pie) to the pub grub you'll share with friends after work, alongside a few frosty mugs. But there are a few delightful surprises, too, like a Thai-style salad that combines marinated shrimp or grilled chicken with vermicelli over a bed of greens that's tossed in a rice-wine vinaigrette and topped with chopped peanuts, sesame seeds and marinated orange slices.
