Kihachi Japanese Restaurant Description:
No ordinary Japanese restaurant, Kihachi is a taste of Tokyo in a surprising location. This is not fast food, nor is it a Japanese steakhouse or sushi shop. This is the real deal---a simple, small (about 40 seats) place that will make you sorry to say sayonara. Written in Japanese, the special menu is graciously translated by servers. Appetizer choices change daily, depending on fresh ingredients found by chef-owner Ryuji "Mike" Kimura. Appetizers alone make a fine meal. Mackerel sashimi, tuna rolls, sea veggie tempura, bluefin tuna and eel in vinegar sauce are first-rate. Steamed duck with saké, grilled pork cheek, shiitake mushrooms with shrimp and grilled matsutake mushrooms are favorites. For a real treat, order an omakase dinner.
