Although part of a regional chain, J. Gilbert's does a better job than many of its ilk. The restaurant serves wood-fired steaks, including sirloins, porterhouses and Kansas City strips in a clubby, elegant setting. But there also are plenty of other choices for those not fond of red meat: seared Georges Bank scallops, lobster ravioli and grilled barbecue pork chops, to name a few. The chocolate Pompeii soufflé is the dessert we recommend, but be prepared for a 15-minute wait.
