Tapas and other Spanish dishes dominate the first part of this menu, but the entrées and large plates veer off into New American territory. The boldly flavored small plates change occasionally, but if you get a chance, order the honey-roasted beet salad or stuffed avocado (with Spanish blue cheese dressing, red onion and chili oil), or go for the chilled, spiced peach soup. Pan-Asian and Pacific Rim influences are prevalent among the small plates. You might find lobster spring rolls or Asian noodle salad in addition to the ubiquitous seared ahi with soba noodles. Entrées range from paella to braised short ribs to sautéed shrimp and scallops. All breads and desserts are prepared in-house each morning. This venue does double duty as a busy nightspot, and the noise level can verge on deafening. If you want to avoid it, sit on the beautiful patio, weather permitting.
