Alana's Food & Wine

Located just north of campus on N. High St. just past E. Oakland Ave. Serving eclectic cuisine with entrees running $15 to $25. One example of an entree is the Cobb A La Muska With Salami, Peppered Bacon, Slivered Veggies, Hard Boiled Egg, Pecorino Pepato And Cabernet Buttermilk Dressing all for around $8. Open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday. There is no children's menu. A long-standing reputation for serving outstanding meals and finger foods at private functions. Alana's Happy Lucky Wok is ideal for poolside parties and other casual dining events. Dishes can be made for sit-down dining, or handed out in Chinese food containers. You can often catch the wok in action during Sunday brunch at Alana's Food & Wine. A kosher version of the wok is also available upon request. The ambiance of the dining rooms and patio is French brasserie with a flare. They also have a wine shop with a wide selection available for you to to either enjoy with dinner at the restaurant, or to take home and enjoy on your own. The restaurant was founded by Alana Shock who is also a personal chef and previously a Chef tournade at Emeril's in New Orleans and several executive or management level chef positions at other fine dining restaurants.

Chef Alana Shock and her husband Kevin Bertschi reign over this restaurant with its minuscule kitchen and three homey dining rooms. A small menu changes almost weekly; the only constant is that there's always a very good risotto of the day. For the rest, count on Asian-inspired dishes like Thai bouillabaisse, hearty vegetarian entrées and both American and Mediterranean meat dishes, such as Chilean sea bass with gingered sweet potatoes and beef tenderloin with creamed Brussels sprouts demi glace. The extensive, moderately priced wine list isn't captive to the same old California Cabs and Chardonnays. Although brunch is only offered on select holidays, we recommend that you go if you get the chance. It combines the best aspects of buffet and à la carte options.
