Opus Restaurant Description:
Equal parts chic urban loft and comfy living room, this eatery contributes hip style to Littleton's charming Main Street. A Florida native, chef Michael Long includes plenty of seafood on his extensive and inventive menus, which change every few weeks. We suggest you start with the decadent lobster-tomato bisque. Then, move on to one of the more straightforward, well-balanced main courses, such as the maple-pecan-roasted pork tenderloin, accented by a Bourbon molasses pork jus, white bean salad and a cake of cheddar cheese grits. We find that some of Long's higher-flying inspirations may sound intriguing but prove to be overbearing; take, for example, the way veal medallions are overwhelmed by gobs of goat cheese, truffled pappardelle, Marsala mushroom sauté, spinach and tomato confit. That caveat aside, we recommend that you plan on having wine with your meal, since Opus is one of the few area restaurants that has sommeliers on hand, who helpfully guide oenophiles and novices alike through a well-chosen list of New World-focused selections and some great hard-to-find bottles.
