Damascus Grill Description:
At this stylishly appointed, suburban Mid-East feast house, the lantern-illuminated dining room pulsates with energy, the staff is welcoming and gracious, and the food will make you swoon. The menu is an encyclopedic, seven-page testimonial celebrating falafel and fava beans, hummus, pita bread, beef shwarma, fattoush and baba ghanouj. Hummus is creamy, pungent with garlic and kissed with lemon, while the fattoush salad arrives with fresh greens and vegetables and crisp patches of pita. The restaurant doesn't serve alcohol, but you can do far worse than downing one of its fresh fruit juices or just-squeezed lemonade. And, if you have room to spare, which is doubtful, the saffron-laced rice pudding pelted with cardamom, almonds and pistachios results in a fine finale.
