Mateo Description:
This small neighborhood bistro serves Provençal-inspired comfort food at reasonable prices and features organic products from local farmers, ranchers and foragers. For starters, try the house pâté served warm with crunchy crostini and apple chutney, or a bowl of steamed Prince Edward Island mussels "en cocotte" with a side of thin, crisp frites. Main courses range from old standbys like steak frites and croque monsieur to offerings like a seared loin of yellowfin tuna à la niçoise with haricots verts and flageolet bean broth. Desserts are light homemade ice creams and sorbets. The walls are brick and when the restaurant is full, the noise level is high, making hearing a bit of a challenge.
