Tommy's Description:
An ex-hippy diner that has some choices for vegetarians. The menu ranges from sandwiches and pizza to falafel and escarole and potato pies. Most patrons agree the milk shakes are worth waiting for.
Tommy's is unique in the Cleveland area, offering a large menu created by (and named for) Tommy's customers. The décor includes a lot of natural wood, plant life and local art, and the ever-youthful-looking Tommy is almost always in the thick of things. The restaurant offers the biggest selection of health-food meals in the city, including 25 different salads, and there are ten varieties of toasted cheese sandwiches. There is also a Lebanese influence here---lots of hummus and pita. Clevelanders agree that Tommy's serves the best milkshakes in town with flavors like peanut butter, root beer, peach yogurt and mint-chocolate chip. Service is occasionally surly, but only because the constant flow of customers keeps the waitstaff hopping.
