Empress Taytu Ethiopian Restaurant Description:
Designed to resemble a traditional Ethiopian village, Empress Taytu offers guests seating in thatched huts at low, basket-style messobs. No silverware is set at the tables. Instead, diners use spongy injera bread in place of utensils. Highlights include North African beef, chicken, lamb and vegetables stews. There are many vegetarian selections, too. For dinner, enlist a dining companion to share the dorowat, the restaurant's signature spicy chicken dish of hot peppers, cardamom, cinnamon, basil and ginger. Several combination platters are available, which are ideal for sampling an array of flavors. Instead of dessert, which isn't really part of Ethiopian culture, opt for the enchanting, ceremonial Ethiopian coffee service.
