This family-run eatery on the near west side is revered for its authenticity, consistent quality and very fair pricing. The lengthy menu features everything from frogs' legs to chicken curry, but our favorite is the egg roll and vermicelli. (The paper-thin wheat dough wrap is fried crisp and filled with a savory combination of pork, noodles and vegetables, wood ear mushrooms among them.) Other highlights include the house-made soups---easily some of the best in the city---with layers of flavor that unfold with each bite. While there's a large dining room for those who want the full experience, you also can view the menu online and call ahead for take-out.
