Maribelle's Tavern Description:
Anyone who knew it as the Du Drop Inn, an eatery that existed for decades, will be pleasantly surprised by this historic building's renovation and new life as a hip little bistro on the riverfront east of downtown. The atmosphere is upscale but relaxed in this two-story tavern, with bright walls and dark wood, long first-floor bar, stylish upper-level dining room and small garden patio. It's a place where you can wear jeans and order a beer but still be served grown-up tastes, whether it's grilled cheese with goat cheese, onion and tomato or a salmon club with bacon, avocado and sweet chili mayo. Simple foods here have a modern twist, such as the pizza-like appetizer of four-cheese flatbread that's gussied up with basil pesto and arugula and drizzled with balsamic reduction. Maribelle's is known for its burgers (come for Tuesday night "burger jackpot" and get gourmet toppings and a side for $6). But this place also does seafood well, whether it's fish 'n' chips, ahi or sea bass. Sides range from roasted sweet potatoes to jalapeño grits. The mac 'n' cheese is homemade. The desserts vary nightly.
