Trio Description:
We don't know what folks in the upscale-professional eastside suburb of Kenwood would do without Trio, a versatile restaurant with a young vibe, all-ages clientele and hip, circular bar made for hanging out. The décor is contemporary but welcoming, with burnished wood booths, warm shades of bronze and copper and snazzy brushed-metal accents. The food is American, and so is much of the wine, with an extensive by-the-glass selection. Microbrews and specialty martinis, however, are more popular with the happy hour crowds. Food-wise, the gourmet pizzas are a sure bet, from a simple Roma tomato and pesto to smoked salmon with herbed cream cheese and capers. We also recommend the unusual mashed potato pie, with cheddar, Monterey Jack, bacon, chives and sour cream. Although the kitchen doesn't necessarily produce fireworks, you'll always find something that appeals.
