The Precinct Description:
The Romanesque 1901 building that houses The Precinct is remarkable in its own right. Arched windows and a massive corner turret add distinctive style to the red brick structure, which at one time was a police patrol house. The dining room once held the horses that drew the patrol wagons, hay was stored upstairs, and the lobby was a two-man office. These days The Precinct's steaks are almost as famous as its building. Menu items are named after famous sports figures, many of whom probably dine here. You'll find the usual suspects: thick filet mignons, New York sirloins and porterhouses. But you also may choose from more creative steak entrées, including the Dusty Baker blackened tournedos with shrimp and Creole sauce. The Boardwalk french fries are noteworthy for their homemade balsamic ketchup. The Precinct's menu also includes a nice selection of fresh fish such as the wood-grilled swordfish with Israeli couscous, tomatoes, olives and capers.
