The Blackhawk Lodge was long ago transformed into this neighborhoody tap, which means the atmosphere went from Northwoods supper club to West Side tavern. But that's not to say it attracts the kind of crowd that you'd find at your average watering hole; the location near Michigan Avenue kind of rules that out. The menu is packed with pub grub: Buffalo wings, salads, chicken sandwich, burgers, ribs, fish 'n' chips, to name a few. You'll find a charcoal-grilled artichoke, an array of flatbreads (try the smoked barbecue chicken with caramelized onions) and meatloaf with mushroom gravy. Barbecue combos are a steal, so grab some brisket and chicken for under $20. The good news is that the food is quality, the price is right and the portions are generous. So what's not to like?
