Tavern at the Park Description:
With its central downtown location just off Michigan Avenue and views of Millennium Park and the Chicago skyline, Tavern at the Park definitely has the location angle in place. From the same team behind steakhouse Keefer's, including executive chef John Hogan, the restaurant concentrates on classic American cuisine with contemporary twists in an atmosphere reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright. That means there are the ubiquitous sliders, but here the filet mignon mini-sandwich has a blue-cheese crust, and the chili is made with prime rib. Portions are large, but sharing is encouraged---a good idea with rich appetizers such as the herbed chicken fondue and crab dip au gratin. The downstairs bar is a popular spot for the after-work set. The moderately priced, California-heavy wine list is probably a factor.
