Riva Description:
You wouldn't assume there was an interesting restaurant at this tourist hub, but don't judge a book by its cover. Located within one of Chicago's most highly trafficked attractions, this place is anything but casual or inexpensive. By contrast, Riva is prissy and spendy; that said, you will be hard put to find a better view of the city skyline. The menu bounces around seafood, steaks and pasta, starting with crisp calamari with citrus aïoli and black mussels steamed in garlicky white wine or tomato broth. Then, it's on to halibut with fingerlings, wild mushrooms and sweet corn "essence." You'll also find the likes of ahi with king oyster mushrooms, bok choy and Thai-inspired demi-glace as well as top-tier steaks and lobster. The service can be a bit laid-back, especially given what you'll spend. The wine list is solid.
