Red Light Description:
The pan-Asian style of cooking here has an edge to it that is exotic (but not over-the-top). Clearly, this place has found its groove, and it continues to glide along as smooth as silk. The whole Shanghai-style catfish is amazing to see and to taste, and the peach crêpes with macadamia nut ice cream are a dreamy delight. Other options range from paper-wrapped, seared ahi to Asian paella with Chinese sausage, mussels, clams, prawns and lobster-tamarind-laced basmati rice. Be sure to grab communal sides like wrinkled green beans and crisp, crushed potatoes. Or, throw caution to the wind and order a tasting menu; you won't be sorry you did. The bi-level room has a mysterious air about it: lots of real potted palms and fancy light fixtures (most of them red) and fabrics add to the intrigue. The service staff is savvy and hip (in tune with the crowd). There's an active bar scene, too, with trendy martinis and boutique beers.
