Las Palmas Description:
This Wicker Park hacienda serves some classics---tacos, chile relleno---in a color-splashed, art-decked setting with high-backed red booths and comfortable-enough table seating. But it's the more innovative dishes that hold our interest. The ceviches---such as the Maya with orange and lime juice-saturated sea bass, shrimp, red onions and habanero---are something to write home about. Even more exciting is the fact that the main courses, including a shockingly good molcajete of sizzling Chihuahua cheese, grilled cactus, scallions and steak, largely are under $20. Before or after a meal, rub elbows with neighborhood hipsters in the moody lounge where oodles of tequilas can add up to spendy sipping.
