John's Place Description:
This neighborhood restaurant has become a magnet for young urban parents---many of whom head straight for the chopped salads. The crab cakes are fine; so is the shepherd's pie. You'll also encounter diverse dishes like carne asada, broth-y soba noodles and a barbecue shrimp skillet with sweet corn spoon bread, making it ideal for the whole family. But it's the brunch fare---especially the pancakes---that draw us here. We're not alone, which is why you might have to wait in line on the weekends. Also located at 2132 W. Roscoe St.
