If loud and boisterous settings are your thing, you'll feel right at home at this handsome, busy trattoria in the Little Italy neighborhood. We find the salads at Francesca's particularly memorable (try the string bean, tomato and onion variety) as well as the homemade pastas, such as the gnocchi in tomato-basil sauce. Other finds include porcini-laced risotto; roasted chicken with garlic, shallots and rosemary; penne with Italian sausage, wild mushrooms and peas; and roasted veal medallions in a light brandy sauce.
