When you name your restaurant after a dish, it had better be good. And the fattoush at Fattoush---traditional Lebanese salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, green onions, peppers, parsley, mint and sumac spice, dressed with olive oil and lemon juice and topped with toasted pita bread---earns that right. But there's a lot more to love about this family-run restaurant, including smoky baba ghanoush, creamy hummus, grilled baby lamb chops and shish taouk, marinated chicken breast with powerful-in-a-good-way garlic sauce. The BYOB setting is nothing fancy, but the warmth of the husband-and-wife owners more than makes up for it. Those with gluten issues will appreciate the variety of gluten-free dishes, including special pita bread brought in from an Evanston bakery.
