Known---with good reason---for its namesake kalbi (tender, marinated short ribs, removed from the bone), this no-frills Japanese barbecue joint features tabletop grills where you cook your own concoctions and top them with an assortment of condiments. Décor is nothing to write home about---just lots of wood paneling. The true magic lies with the sizzling soup, paper-thin strips of marinated chicken and rib-eye that cook in seconds, and cucumber salad, radish kimchi and sesame oil-seasoned sprouts that top cooked meats. Be sure to order some ice-cold soju or saké to wash it all down.
