Cafe Bernard Description:
With more than 35 years under its belt, this is one of the longest running---and most popular---French bistros in Chicago. It's affordable, pleasant, Left-Bank casual---and a bit rustic. The food runs the usual bistro route; mussels steamed in white wine, cream and shallots manage to stand out. Other seafood dishes are handled nicely, too, including grilled North Atlantic salmon with Cabernet Sauvignon sauce. Pâtés are only passable, but the chocolate mousse is mighty fine.
