Cafe Absinthe Description:
The entrance is off an alley behind the restaurant (which means that the front of the restaurant, which is the kitchen, is on North Avenue). In two words, this place is casual-chic, and the patrons know where to go to be seen. Add the idea of creative cuisine that is both sassy and classy and you have a restaurant where the food far outstrips the looks of the place. It would be hard for us to pin down a few recommendations---the menu changes fairly often---but we can honestly say that just about everything we have tried here has been pleasing in one way or another. Typical orders include an appetizer of steamed mussels in a Cognac-and-cilantro cream sauce and an entrée of absinthe-glazed rack of lamb with macadamia-nut couscous.
