Aldino's Description:
Executive chef Dean Zanella (formerly of 312 Chicago) taps into his culinary adroitness and Italian upbringing to create a newfangled menu of hearty Italian faves at this University Village-Little Italy spot. He culls ingredients from local farms and markets to concoct impossibly fresh combos, like a tender pork shoulder that's doused in a tangy lemon and milk braise and set atop buttery polenta. Seating options abound, from the rustic, dimly lit dining room to the bright bar, equipped with flat-screens and draught brews. On those rare, balmy Chicago evenings, you'll find us camped out on the 25-seat al fresco patio with a glass of Lageder Pinot Bianco in hand. The compact adjoining market, with its ample selection of local cheeses, house-made pastas and grab-and-go salads and Sicilian pizzas, is our go-to for quick lunches or last-minute dinner ingredients.
