After 20 years in business, Squid's remains one of the most popular eateries in Chapel Hill, drawing seafood lovers of all ages and budgets. This attractive but unpretentious fish house is the place to go for well-prepared traditional seafood dishes---oysters and clams on the half shell, flaky fried scallops, sweet peel-your-own shrimp, well-seasoned seafood chowder, and broiled lobster served simply with melted butter. If you want to start dining a little early, the oyster bar opens at 4 p.m. More exotic fare---shrimp fra diavolo, bouillabaisse, and scallops Genovese---show the chef's culinary range. Specials may include mussels with a tomato, white wine and garlic sauce, and halibut with an herb butter sauce. Rib-eyes and hamburgers are available for landlubbers.
