Moores Gourmet Market Description:
This former neighborhood meat market houses Moore's Gourmet Market, established in 2001, which specializes in freshly prepared Southern classics that are more than a notch above the ordinary in quality. Owner-chef Cortney Hultman offers daily specials that include catfish and hushpuppies with two sides---two fried, lightly crumbed filets that are moist and nicely seasoned. First-rate meatloaf is a frequent Blue Plate special. Country-fried steak is the real deal. A meat-and-two goes for $7.95 at lunch, $8.95 at dinner; a hand-cut rib-eye with two veggies goes for $12.95 at lunch, $15.95 at dinner. Sautéed squash is a fine accompaniment. But don't overlook desserts, which Hultman himself prepares in-house. Adding to the enjoyment, beer and wine have been brought into the picture, but the beer choices are more interesting.
