A strip mall location and dense lunch crowds are virtually the only downfalls at this locals' favorite. Known for healthy California cuisine, Fresco Café offers myriad combinations of fresh, organic salads, sandwiches, tortilla wraps and pizzas. Proprietors Jill and Mark Brouillard have made Fresco one of the city's hottest lunch spots---and if you're looking for simple, reasonably priced food and don't require much in the way of ambience, it's a good dinner option as well. For a rich vegetarian treat, try the hot mushroom combo sandwich, made with shiitake, portobello and button mushrooms, caramelized onions, Brie and Dijon. Be sure to save room for the desserts, which are as decadent as the rest of the menu is healthy. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere generally welcoming.
