Family-owned and -operated, this delightful restaurant on Upper State has quietly been serving Santa Barbara's best Indian food for over 15 years. The chefs use two tandoori ovens to cook a variety of traditional breads such as naan and chapati, and to grill savory kebabs---skewers of tender lamb or boneless chicken breast blended with spices and herbs. Everything is made from scratch, even the cheese for saag paneer, and dishes tend to be delicately seasoned, perhaps a little too mild. If you like it hot, let your server know and they'll kick up the spice a notch. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, although the restaurant itself is rather simple inside and out. Locals in-the-know flock here for the affordable lunch buffet, which offers a refreshingly small amount of choices and a bottomless basket of naan.
