Esau's Cafe Description:
A Santa Barbara mainstay, Esau's has long been a gathering spot for locals. This is a classic California-style café, adorned with surfing paraphernalia and run by a well-known family of surfers. Breakfast is the main draw, particularly pancakes---made using fresh buttermilk and the same recipe for over 60 years. Owners Scott and Arti Stanley put their unique stamp on dishes such as Arti's scramble: three eggs with grilled mushrooms, spinach and feta cheese. The duo is known for packing plates beyond the normal limit and sending patrons wobbling out the door. Esau's version of diet food is a mountain of protein called The Atkins, which mixes bacon, sausage, chicken, avocado, two cheeses and a few eggs. Hold the toast. Lunch and dinner fare is equally hearty, from a wide range of burgers and sandwiches to garden-size salads made with fresh ingredients sourced at the local farmers market. Also located at 507 Linden Ave. in Carpinteria.
