French restaurant located on the second floor of Draeger's Gourmet Market in downtown San Mateo.
Brunch is served on both Saturday and Sunday.
The bar menu offers some less-expensive dishes. The bar is open continuously from 11:30a.m. until the evening closing.
Attractive watercolors grace the walls of this airy second-floor space, interestingly located atop Draeger's Marketplace, an upscale grocery store that's long been a Peninsula favorite. The delicious, if pricey, California-style menu takes in all the bounty available from the downstairs market and transforms it with classic French techniques. Light potato gnocchi frame baby spring vegetables and gets a savory hint from shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano. A light soup matches earthy asparagus and artichokes with sweet bits of Dungeness crab. A standout entrée would be the rack of lamb dusted with dried porcini mushrooms and paired with risotto and eggplant-tomato compote. The wine list is a treat and is especially fun when explored during one of its many winemaker dinners.
