Re-opened on Sept 20, 2007 after extensive remodeling. Established in 1956 by the Rocca Family, Original Joe's Restaurant has been a cornerstone for an ever changing downtown San Jose, Ca. Famous for its large portions and homestyle Italian cooking , Original Joe's continues to serve the community with the same quality of food and service that it has for over 40 years. Original Joe's was the first San Francisco based restaurant to open in San Jose. The cuisine is still served with a traditional San Francisco flair. All sandwiches are served on sourdough french bread, and come with fresh handcut steak fries.
Original Joe's also serves over 100 entrees, encompassing eggs, omelettes, sandwiches, soups, salads, roasts, veal, chicken, fish, pasta, steaks and chops.
Established in 1956 by the Rocca family (who founded the original Original Joe's in San Francisco), this family favorite is a downtown San Jose institution. Order the famous Joe's Special---eggs scrambled with spinach, hamburger and onions---a dish, according to legend, that was created for a musician late one night from what the kitchen had on hand. Lunch specials include lasagna, Swiss steak and meatloaf. At dinner, hearty offerings like prime rib, calf's liver and sweetbreads come with potatoes, spaghetti or ravioli. Classics stand up, too, from eggplant Parmigiana to spaghetti and meatballs. Hamburgers, T-bone steaks, and filet of sole are also house favorites. Service is friendly and quick, and it's open until 1:30 a.m. daily.
