If you look past the frequently poor service and disorganized dining room, you'll find a nice neighborhood restaurant, one of the best options for lunch or dinner in Carpinteria. The Parmesan-crusted rack of lamb is served with a sun-dried tomato and rosemary pesto. Fresh swordfish is grilled to juicy tenderness and comes with citrus-melon relish. The salads are big and fresh, and feature produce grown on local farms. For lunch, try the crunchy chicken curry salad or one of the ample stuffed sandwiches. Can't decide on a salad or a sandwich? Then go for the half-and-half lunchtime combo. The regular dinner menu features a variety of pasta and vegetable dishes, but meatloaf made with turkey and mushrooms is the big seller. Homemade desserts include tiramisu, cheesecake and molten chocolate cake.
