Village Fish House Description:
Located in the center of Carmel Valley Village, the Village Fish House is situated in a charming building. There are platters of oysters (Rockefeller, if you wish) and plates of octopus or other starters (share if you'd like). Fish can be prepared oak-grilled, blackened or with Marsala. Halibut can come crusted with macadamias. Side dishes of pastas and vegetables are interchangeable, and the latter changes with the seasons; fresh sautéed zucchini and green beans may appear in the summer. The staff is accommodating, and the atmosphere without airs. The wine list is small and surprising, and most are available by the glass.

We called ahead to the restaurant to see if they could handle a party of 12. They told us "yes" so we proceeded to the restaurant. It took them an hour before they even took our order. Than it took another hour and a half to bring us our food. The waiter acted like he did not want us there. It was like pulling teeth to get a refill.

AT the village fish house i had an experience full of great people. The employees were well mannered the food was great and fine folks that have eaten there several time were very friendly. From my point of view the resteraunt was well managed and most likely to be very successfull in the near future.

What an awful evening! To begin, a woman who turned out to be our server seated a party of seven that came in after us first (they left 90 minutes later before our entrees had even arrived). After bringing us our oysters and beers she promptly forgot about us. I think that was the only thing she did promptly all night. We didn't get any menus because they were tied up by the party of seven. After our oysters were cleared I had to ask for some. Twenty minutes later, after many attempts to flag our waitress down, we had our order taken. Thirty minutes later one bowl of soup was brought to our table which sat for ten more minutes before someone in our party asked a busser about the rest. He brought out raviolis, we were still missing two entrees. My bouillabaisse was inedible. At that point my dad went into the kitchen to tell them to hold the rest. We asked for the bill and told her why we were unhappy. I'm a waitress on the peninsula, and you can bet that I'll never recommend this place to anyone ever.
