Spumoni Restaurant Description:
Burdened by the narrowest of storefronts and a decidedly old-fashioned name, the attributes of this Valley eatery come as a bit of a surprise. Starters include a massive bowl of calamari affogati, minestrone and good salads. Big plates of chicken Marsala and scampi arrabbiata with sides of spaghetti are good values, but the pastas are the highlights here. The penne with goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and garlic in a light cream sauce is wickedly addictive and a full ten gnocchi dishes---compared to the usual token selections---offer pillow-soft morsels bathed in a variety of wonderful sauces, both rustic and elegant. The noisy little dining room, whose walls are lined with simple metal lanterns and diminutive paintings of Venice and Rome, is nothing fancy but not without a homey charm.
