Sho Description:
Hidden in one of those strip centers that are city planners' nightmares, this obscure but pleasant little establishment has had a local entertainment industry clientele whispering enthusiastically for several years. Despite its attempt at décor, reflected by both contemporary and traditional Japanese art, this place looks like a thousand other sushi bars in town. But the chef, previously of Sushi Roku and Nobu Malibu, serves a product of much higher quality than the standard strip center tenant. We particularly enjoy the uni, wasabi-infused tobiko sushi topped with quail egg, and live scallop. In addition to the highly respectable sushi, the chef prepares small plates called ippin-ryori---Japanese tapas, if you will---in plain view behind the counter. We thoroughly enjoy Sho's version of the bite-sized Japanese pot stickers called gyoza.
