Peppers Mexicali Cafe Description:
Tropical salsas. Fusion Mexican sausage pizza. Snapper Veracruz marinated in tomatoes, green chilies and lime juice. Sweet corn chowder. And peppers, of course, stuffed with cheese, guacamole and salsa. Mussels are a meal all by themselves, hot with chilies and tomato. The owners call their mélange of tastes "Latin American cuisine" but the food doesn't really venture that far south, reaching across to neighboring and nearby borders. Taste the Southwest, Mexico, even a shake of Cajun---think Creole-style jambalaya. Whatever the ethnicity, the food and décor are fresh and flavorful. Unless requested, few items are spicy enough to require mandatory liquid refreshment, but its recommended regardless; locals hang out at the bar for some of the best drinks in town, such as margaritas made with fresh lemon and lime juice, hand shaken and served up frozen or on the rocks.

Review :
My husband and I have been to Peppers twice since moving to Pacific Grove. On our first visit, we thought the food was only so-so, but we did note that they had a full bar, which is rare in PG! So, one Thursday after work when we wanted to go out for happy hour someplace within walking-distance, we decided to get a couple of margaritas at Peppers. The $8 margaritas were good, but a few minutes after receiving the margaritas and telling our waitress, "We're only having drinks," the hostess came to our table to have a word with us. Apparently, even though there were at least three other tables open and no line, we should have gone to the bar instead of a table if we were only there for drinks. My husband told her that there was no need for us to move to the bar, we'd just take the check instead.
